What started off as a perfume shop in Bangkok has spun-off into a series of discriminating boutique hotels that recreate the gilded colonial ages in picturesque stretch of Koh Samui beachfront. Two-story architecture is adorned under a corrugated roof-line with balconies and picture windows facing the Gulf of Siam. Mature palm trees and greenery frame a center courtyard that is surrounded by outdoor seating of the highly acclaimed in-house eatery and various suite-level room accommodations. <br /><br />Inside, hand-painted tile floors are illuminated by walls of sliding glass doors and dark woodwork on walls with illuminated bookshelves and heavy swag drapery. What at times feels more like a private inn or bed and breakfast, the service at the hotel is pure white glove but in a shared environment where other guests are never very far from sight even when you’d really like them to be. By day a secluded beach offers easy access for exploring nearby islands by boat or just sunbathing on one of the few sun loungers before hitting the in-house HHOMM Spa with its papaya facials and mango body scrubs.
The Room
The Scent Hotel is comprised of 15 rooms on two floors located in a collection of European and Chinese-style guest rooms arranged in a u-shaped pavilion around a courtyard pool. European style rooms feature Indo-Chinese décor with sliding wood paneled doors and ornate collection of period antiques arranged in a cozy yet luxurious setting, Chinese style rooms are inspired by the row houses found in many Asian big cities with Chinese lacquer furnishings and more modern decorative pieces. Three Beachfront Suites are located on the upper or lower level of the hotel with private terraces of hammock and lounge furnishings overlooking the sea. Rooms feature with in-room Nespresso machine and nightly chocolates at turn-down service in addition to a complimentary 15-minute massage on check-in with fruit plate and glass of fresh sparkling juice. Bathrooms feature a choice or homemade aromatics and toiletries.
